Chinese New Year Spring Cleaning

The thought of spring cleaning the house scares me as i will be the only one doing it this year. Fearing that my wife will hurt herself and the baby, Our parents have given out an order whereby she is exempted from doing the housework. So to name a few chores to carry out. I was tasked to clean the windows, drawers, sink, bathrooms, storeroom, furniture and even the Chinese New Year decorations have to be put up! The lists being compiled are neverending...

8 Weeks Pregnant!!!

Baby is about the size of a pinto bean and is approximately 14 to 20 mm long! Eyelid folds and ears are forming. The baby's eyes are still very wide apart on the sides of her head, but will eventually center themselves out. The tip of the nose is actually present at this time as well.

One of the symptoms that you might feel around this time of your pregnancy is cramping or pain in your lower abdomen or side as your uterus grows. Some pregnant women feel tightening or contractions of the uterus. Many pregnant women also experience an occasional pain that begins in their buttocks and radiates down their back or legs. This is known as sciatic nerve pain and can be extremely painful at times. More than likely the pain is caused by the pressure on the nerve and it is best to lie on the opposite side to relieve the pressure.

Boy or Girl?

Well, to tell you the truth. I do have a preference for the gender of the baby. But don't want to tell lah, i very bantang(singglish for superstitious). Hehe.. But irregardless of the outcome, our hopes would be for the baby to be healthy and happy.Since we are talking about gender, i have compiled a lists of old wive's tales indicating the gender of your baby.. Treat it as a pinch of salt and some of you might get a laugh out of it. Enjoy!

1) Sleep on the left side of bed = Girl, and right side = Boy

2) If you have soft hands = Girl, and Dry hands = Boy

3) If you crave for salty foods like french fries = Boy

4) If you crave for sweet foods like choclate = Girl

5) If you're clumsy and stumbling over pairs of shoes = Boy

6) If you feel graceful on foot = Girl

7) If your left breast is bigger = Girl, and right breast bigger = Boy

The lists are neverending...
As fascinating and fun as these tales are, they are just tales!! So don't dwell too much on it.

A father's role

What a husband can do...

1. Understand the changes your wife is going through, be it emotionally, mentally and physically.

2. Read some prenatal books, baby books or read my blog to have a better idea on how to support your wife.

3. Be patient with her mood swings, headaches, discomforts and unusual food cravings!

4. Ultimately, the best thing a partner can do is to be availabe as much as he possibly can as having a baby is a very special experience.

We can hear the heart beat!!!

140108(7 weeks pregnant)

Accompanied my wife to see the gynae today, we were told that today is quite important as we are going to see the heartbeat. So what i thought was another scan on the belly, but to my astonishment, the gynae turned on the volume and for the first time we heard our baby's heartbeat and the tiny little heart beating triumpantly...Today is really unforgettable.

P.s to daisy(if you are reading this) Thanks for leaving your comments, greatly appreciated!!

Morning sickness...

Morning sickness... is that what they call it nowadays? My wife been getting the frequent signs of wanting to vomit, fearing that she might lose "control"... i try to drive as smooth as possible on the roads. As a self proclaimed hell rider and someone who likes to achieve 100km/h on the expressway. It is considered a taxing task for me. But to make her feel better, i just have to tone down a little bit..( roads has just become more safer :> )

She also has the "I feel bored" or the "I am tired" look. Watching movies and shopping during the weekends was what we always like to do.But somehow or rather, she suggested to stay at home.(which is to my surprise). Even news of a great sale at a particular shopping outlet couldn't even move her from the couch. If it were the previous days... she would have been there first.

Anyone care to share your experience?
